UPPER Md. Marlboro. In the July 6 vehicle accident that claimed the lives of Minnesota Vikings rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson and two of his former high school teammates, a woman was charged on Thursday.
Prosecutors in Prince George’s County, a suburb of Washington, charged Cori Clingman with 13 charges, including vehicular manslaughter in connection with driving under the influence.
If found guilty, Clingman may spend up to 30 years behind bars, according to State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy.
Braveboy stated that this is just the beginning of our battle to secure justice for these three young men, their families, Wise High School, the NFL, and the community at large.
Whether Clingman has legal representation was not immediately apparent. Clingman was taken into custody without incident, according to Braveboy, and his bond will be reviewed on Friday.
The Vikings selected Jackson in the fourth round of the April draft. Before spending one season with the Oregon Ducks to wrap out his collegiate career, he played for Alabama for two years.
Anthony Lytton Jr. passed away in a hospital, while Jackson, 24, and Isaiah Hazel perished at the site of the three-car collision. Hazel was 23 and Lytton was 24.
According to authorities, the three were in the same car shortly after three in the morning when it was hit by another car that was changing lanes and speeding.
According to Braveboy, we think that Ms. Clingman’s car and the victim’s car came into touch.
Jackson and Lytton were passengers, while Hazel was the driver. After being struck, their vehicle swerved off the road and collided with many tree trunks.
In the second and third cars, no one was hurt.
Lytton played collegiate football at Florida State and Penn State, while Hazel attended Maryland and Charlotte.
Together, the three won a state championship at Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School in Maryland.
