Wind advisory affecting South Central Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains and Southern Oregon Cascades Friday and Saturday

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for the Siskiyou Mountains, Southern Oregon Cascades, and South Central Oregon Cascades on Thursday at 2:34 p.m., which was in effect from Friday at 10 p.m. to Saturday at 10 p.m.

“Northeast winds of 15 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are expected,” the weather service said. “Winds will first become gusty at exposed locations in the higher terrain on Friday night, then will be strongest across the area during Saturday afternoon and evening.”

“With extended exposure, wind chill levels and extremely low temperatures can cause hypothermia. Unsecured objects will be blown around by gusty gusts. According to the weather service, “a few power outages may result and tree limbs could be blown down.” “As much as possible, keep pets inside. Be careful when you’re outside. Put on gloves, a hat, and clothes that are acceptable. Driving in such severe winds can be challenging, particularly for cars with a prominent profile. Be especially careful.
