Who is redshirting for Oregon football in 2024?

Eugene Who will redshirt for No. 1 Oregon this season is decided at the end of the regular season.

A year of eligibility will be retained for the 29 Ducks who played four games or fewer during the regular season, which is the maximum allowed by the NCAA. The four-game redshirt rule does not apply to postseason play, which starts with Penn State’s Big Ten Championship game next week.

This excludes Matthew Bedford, an offensive lineman who played against Oregon State but worsened his preseason knee injury during UO’s first bye week. Bedford might request a medical hardship waiver for an extra year of eligibility after missing UO’s senior day pregame rituals against Washington on Saturday.

With 22 out of 24 true freshman scholarship players redshirting with the majority playing little or not at all, the players redshirting this season are largely rookies, as is customary. Of the true freshmen, only safety Payton Woodyard and tight end Roger Saleapaga did not redshirt.

The following players, arranged by position and year, are Oregon’s redshirting scholarship recipients:

QB: Luke Moga, freshman; Dante Moore, sophomore

RB: Freshman De Jaun Riggs

Freshmen wide receivers Dillon Gresham, Jeremiah McClellan, Ryan Pellum, and Jack Ressler
