Chicago police have issued a warning to West Side residents following a series of related robberies targeting commercial businesses in the area. The police are investigating multiple incidents that occurred between June 27 and July 25, 2024.
The robberies took place at various locations across the West Side. Here are the details of the reported incidents:
- 5200 block of West Chicago Ave: June 27, 2024, at 5:17 a.m.
- 3900 block of West Monroe: Between June 28 and June 29, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. and 7:55 a.m.
- 4800 block of West Fulton St.: July 17, 2024, at 1:16 a.m.
- 4700 block of West Lake St.: Between July 18 and July 19, 2024, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
- 3900 block of West Cermak Rd: July 21, 2024, at 2:07 a.m.
- 400 block of South Laramie Ave: July 23, 2024, from 3:30 a.m. to 3:45 a.m.
- 3700 block of West Roosevelt Rd: July 25, 2024, at 3:21 a.m.
In each case, the offenders managed to bypass the security gates and break through the business’s front doors or windows. Once inside, they targeted cash registers and ATMs, stealing money from both sources.
Police reports suggest that the robberies involved a group of up to seven individuals, with approximately three acting as lookouts. The suspects were dressed in hoodies, face masks, and gloves to conceal their identities.
