Washington County opens cold weather shelter Friday ahead of expected freezing temperatures

In anticipation of predicted below-freezing temperatures, Washington County will open an inclement weather shelter in Beaverton on Friday afternoon.

According to a county news statement, the Beaverton Community Center, which is situated at 12350 SW 5th St., will be open twenty-four hours a day starting at 2:00 p.m. on Friday until further notice.

According to the statement, the shelter is reachable by TriMet bus lines 52, 76, and 78 and will serve hot meals and accept the majority of pets.

The National Weather Service predicts that the Portland area will have below-freezing overnight temperatures each night this weekend. No shelter openings have been announced by Multnomah County.
