Voting for The Oregonian’s Readers Choice Awards’ next category—best ski and snowboard destination in Oregon—is now open.

Voting is available once daily until 11:59 p.m. at the link at the bottom of this post. February 4, 2025, Tuesday. The results will be announced on Friday, February 7 at atoregonlive.com/readers-choice-awards. The finalists are as follows:

Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort

At 7,100 feet in the Elkhorn Range, Anthony Lakes is the highest ski resort in Oregon and is situated around 35 miles outside of Baker City in eastern Oregon. Additionally, it is known for having some of the state’s greatest powder. The resort is regarded as family-friendly and is modest.

Mt. Ashland Ski Area

The U.S. Forest Service states that the Mt. Ashland Ski Area is situated at the highest point in the Siskiyou Mountain Range.

The ski resort offers meals in its historic lodge and four chairlifts that serve 44 runs.

In central Oregon, close to Bend, sits Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort.The Oregonian, Terry Richard, 2015.

Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort

Mount Bachelor in central Oregon is one of the biggest ski resorts in the nation and one of the most visited ski destinations in Oregon. The ski area’s website states that it has 101 routes, 3,365 feet of vertical drop, and 4,323 skiable acres.

With Mount Jefferson in the background, skiers descend the Texas Trail at Mt. Hood Meadows.

Mt. Hood Meadows

The biggest ski resort on Mount Hood, Meadows is a well-liked winter getaway spot. Over 2,000 acres make up the ski area’s 87 runs. Meadows provides night skiing as well.

Hoodoo Ski Area

With 36 ski lines, Hoodoo is smaller than locations like Mt. Bachelor or Mt. Hood Meadows and is situated in the Cascade Range close to Santiam Pass.

Because of its quirky vibes, Hoodoo has long been a favorite among ardent skiers. Harold the Hodag, a dragon-like figure wearing sunglasses, is the resort’s mascot.

Mt. Hood Skibowl

As the biggest nighttime skiing destination in the US, Skibowl is well-known.

According to the USFS, the winter ski area has around 1,000 acres with eight lifts and 69 slopes that range from easy to expert terrain.

Timberline Ski Area

Constructed in 1937 and featured in films such as The Shining, Timberline is renowned for its iconic lodge.

According to the Timberline website, the resort is the only ski area in the United States that is open for business ten months of the year.

According to the USFS website, Eagle Peak offers a breathtaking 360-degree panoramic view of Waldo Lake, Crescent Lake, Odell Lake, and the high Cascade ranges.
