Four people were stabbed during two separate altercations at Montrose Beach on Sunday evening, according to Chicago police. Witnesses also reported hearing shots fired during one of the incidents, though no injuries from gunfire have been reported. No arrests have been made so far.
The first incident occurred around 7:47 p.m. in the 4400 block of North Simonds. Police said two men were arguing with a third man when the third man pulled out a sharp object and attacked the other two before fleeing the scene.
A 33-year-old man sustained multiple cuts to his arm, and a 32-year-old man suffered cuts to his wrist, according to a Chicago Police Department (CPD) spokesperson. Both men went to Swedish Hospital on their own.
Witnesses at the scene reported hearing shots fired, and police found shell casings in the area where the stabbing occurred.
Later, around 10:10 p.m., two more people were stabbed in the 4500 block of North Simonds. Police said an 18-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were approached by a man who attacked them with a broken beer bottle.
The male victim suffered a cut to his back, and the woman was cut on her hand. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) took both victims to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where they were reported to be in good condition.
Police have not released descriptions of the attackers involved in either incident.
This outbreak of violence at Montrose Beach has raised concerns among locals and authorities. The beach, typically a place for relaxation and recreation, was disrupted by these alarming events. Residents and visitors are urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police.
