On Tuesday, Vancouver City Manager Lon Pluckhahn declared that on December 9, interim Police Chief Troy Price will take the oath of office as the permanent head of the Vancouver Police Department.
“I am confident that as Chief, he will lead our police department with integrity, innovation, and a deep commitment to the safety and well-being of our community,” Pluckhahn said in a statement, citing his vast expertise in law enforcement.
Prior to joining the Vancouver Police Department in 1997, Price had several years of law enforcement experience. Over the past 20 years, he has served as a patrol officer, a detective for property and street crimes, a joint terrorist task force agent, a police sergeant, a police lieutenant, and an assistant chief.
I’ve lived in Vancouver for 27 years, and I consider it a privilege to be the next Chief of Police for my town, Price said. I’m honored to have this chance, and I’m excited to make Vancouver the safest city in Washington.
In October, former Chief Jeff Mori announced his retirement.
