In the Klamath Basin, Central Douglas County, Eastern Curry County, Josephine County, Eastern Douglas County Foothills, Jackson County, Northern and Eastern Klamath County, Western Lake County, Central and Eastern Lake County, and South Central Oregon Coast, the National Weather Service issued an updated air stagnation advisory Wednesday at 3 p.m. that will remain in effect until Friday at noon.
“Over the coming days, the air quality will remain moderate to poor. According to the weather service, this is because of an inversion and stagnant air near the surface that will keep trapping pollution. “A dry cold front on Thursday night and Friday morning will improve mixing conditions.”
The weather service remarks, “People with respiratory problems may experience problems due to poor and unhealthy air quality.” “When it comes to dealing with high levels of air pollution during periods of stagnant air, people with respiratory illnesses should heed their doctors’ recommendations. State air quality organizations strongly advise against outdoor burning and to minimize the number of wood-burning equipment in homes. Long stretches of stagnant air can trap pollutants near the ground where people live and breathe, according to state air quality regulators.
