Update: Air stagnation advisory affecting S. Oregon until early Saturday morning

At 8 p.m. on Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued a revised air stagnation advisory for Central Douglas County, Eastern Curry County, Josephine County, and Jackson County that would remain in force until 4 a.m. on Saturday.

According to the weather service, “Air quality may be poor in valley locations.” An inversion and stagnant air near the surface are to blame for this, as they will continue to trap pollutants.

“Those who have respiratory disorders may experience complications as a result of poor air quality. The weather service warns that driving conditions could become dangerous due to low visibility. “If you’re driving, use your headlights, slow down, and give yourself plenty of space. When it comes to handling high levels of air pollution during periods of stagnant air, people with respiratory illnesses should heed their doctors’ instructions.
