Two Cook County men, Andres F. Parra-Bohorquez, 31, and Michael S. Castiblanco-Quiroga, 32, have been charged in connection with a burglary scheme targeting bank customers in the northwest suburban Des Plaines area.
The duo was allegedly involved in following bank customers after withdrawals and stealing their cash from vehicles.
The investigation began after a 53-year-old Palatine man reported that $4,380 was stolen from his unlocked glove box after he visited a Des Plaines auto shop.
Surveillance footage revealed a black Mercury Mariner in the area during the burglary, which matched the description of a vehicle seen near similar crimes in Des Plaines.
On August 28, police tracked the Mercury through various Chicago suburbs, observing Castiblanco-Quiroga and Parra-Bohorquez as they targeted bank patrons.
The pair was eventually caught after stealing a case containing $25,000 from a vehicle in Arlington Heights. A high-speed chase ensued, leading to their capture in Glenview.
