Tuesday’s weather brings patchy morning fog, a few stray showers to Portland

The weather in Portland will be unpredictable. Tuesday began with patchy fog and clouds in the morning, followed by a mixture of clouds and sunlight in the afternoon.

Until 11 a.m., the National Weather Service has issued a dense fog advisory, warning of abrupt vision loss up to a quarter of a mile in certain fog banks. Drivers should keep a greater distance from one another and keep a close eye out for bikes and pedestrians.

Tuesday showers are barely 20% likely to fall in Portland. Rainfall may be higher in areas closer to the coast. The high temperature in Portland is expected to be around 49 degrees, with calm breezes.

The remainder of the week appears to be cold but dry. According to the weather service, more dry air will be brought in as the upper flow gradually shifts to the northwest.

On Wednesday, Portland will experience largely cloudy skies by the afternoon after experiencing heavy fog in some places. The temperature will rise to over 49 degrees.

Thanks to a developing ridge of high pressure, Thanksgiving Day will be dry and cool. There may be some patchy fog in the morning. The sky should be partly sunny in the afternoon. The high will be approximately 47 degrees.

There is still a strong likelihood of largely dry weather from Friday through the weekend, according to extended projections. The most northwest region of Oregon may see a few scattered showers on Friday, but Portland is expected to stay dry according to most models. The weekend will begin with partly sunny skies and cool temperatures that barely reach the mid- to upper-forties.
