ARLINGTON – A truck driver was killed late Friday in an accident involving three 18-wheelers and two SUVs on northbound U.S. 287 at Sublett Road, according to Arlington police.
Officers were sent to the site shortly before 10:30 p.m.
Investigators suspect the collision occurred when the driver of a deceased 18-wheeler failed to slow for traffic that had slowed or stopped in a road construction zone and struck another 18-wheeler, resulting in a chain reaction.
The crash included three 18-wheelers, a 2016 Land Rover, and a 2015 Toyota Rav 4. According to Arlington police, the second 18-wheeler collided with the Land Rover, which smashed into the Rav 4, which collided with the third 18-wheeler.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will reveal the deceased truck driver’s identity once the next of kin have been contacted, according to police.
The other drivers and passengers involved in the collision suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
