While traveling from Vancouver, Canada, to Seattle on Tuesday night, an Amtrak train carrying 48 people collided with a fallen tree, causing the tree to impale through the locomotive’s windshield.
According to an email from Amtrak spokesperson Kelly Just, the accident occurred in Silvana, Washington, at approximately 7:50 p.m.
According to Just, an engineer on the train was evaluated at a hospital before being released. According to Just, Amtrak took the passengers to Seattle via bus following the collision, and none of them reported being hurt.
