While traveling from Vancouver, Canada, to Seattle on Tuesday night, an Amtrak train carrying 48 people collided with a fallen tree, causing the tree to impale through the locomotive’s windshield.
According to an email from Amtrak spokesperson Kelly Just, the accident occurred in Silvana, Washington, at approximately 7:50 p.m.
Following the collision, a train engineer was transported to a hospital for assessment.The Washington Department of Transportation provided this image.
