Transfer portal around the corner for Oregon State, coaches will be selling the Beavers ‘perfect fit’

CORVALLIS College football is a game that never stops. Another door will open shortly after Oregon State’s regular season ends on Friday at Boise State.

In less than two weeks, the transfer portal will be operational; this year, it will be open from December 9 to December 28.

Given that this is collegiate football, Oregon State will undoubtedly lose a significant number of players who are still eligible from its 2024 roster to the portal. The Broncos are the coaches’ main focus this week, but Trent Bray, the head coach, is in charge of the entire program and needs to prepare for what lies ahead.

Bray stated that he has not yet discussed 2025 and beyond with OSU players. Beginning Monday of next week, athletes will typically bring up topics during conversations with other coaches. Although you have no influence over it, that’s typically when we speak with gamers.

Oh, third parties and other coaches. It’s not even a minor secret that’s nasty. During the season, other football teams would not speak with players directly; instead, they might use a parent or family member to evaluate interest and the potential size of the cash package.

According to Bray, there isn’t much they can do to prevent those immoral conversations.

Both this year and last year, we were aware of it. That’s just the way things are. Bray remarked, “We just have to get out ahead of it because we can’t stop it.”

Examining the Oregon State transfers from the previous season is one pitch Bray can make to the current players. In terms of name, image, and likeness prospects, it might have been profitable, but not so much on the field. The success of many of the players that departed for other programs is comparable to or greater than what they experienced at Oregon State.

According to Bray, a transfer must have a specific purpose beyond simply finding a better opportunity.

Many of the guys fit our plan and have a lot of production experience. They are excellent players as a result. However, they also complemented our work flawlessly, which is why we hired them, Bray remarked. You must ensure that you are a perfect fit for the scheme you are joining. That school you think is fantastic might not be a good fit for you.

In the end, you want to make sure you’re in the correct system that truly showcases your expertise if you want to play at the next level.
