There was one noteworthy moment for the home team during Friday’s Portland Trail Blazers thrashing defeat to the Utah Jazz.
The Blazers’ guardIn the second quarter of a 141-99 loss at the Moda Center, Shaedon Sharpe scored with a one-handed alley-oop dunk after Anfernee Simons had passed the ball.
According to NBA.com, Sharpe’s vertical leap was 45.1 inches during the dunk. Since tracking became available for dunks last season, that is the highest vertical ever recorded.
For a league that started in 1948–49 and has produced such legendary leapers as Vince Carter, Michael Jordan, and David Thompson, to mention a few, that is a small sample size.
Nevertheless, Sharpe’s dunk was amazing and deserving of another look.
