After practice on Thursday, the Portland Trail Blazers let their inner kids out.
Through the Black Parent Initiative, the Blazers’ coaching staff and players invited eight families to the Tualatin Fred Meyers along Interstate 5 for a scavenger hunt and shopping spree.
Families were paired with Blazers, who then went around the store collecting food, electronics, toys, and anything else the families wanted.
Leigh Bohannon, community outreach and resource manager for Black Parent Initiative, said the families get to come, shop for the holidays, and receive gift cards with a certain amount on them. After that, they can simply do some really fantastic shopping. Additionally, they are paired with Trail Blazers personnel, coaching staff, and Blazers. In a way, it’s a pretty enjoyable way to decompress before the holidays. For the families who deserve it, it’s a very pleasant occasion.
At 7 p.m. on Friday, the Blazers take on the Utah Jazz.
The club looks forward to this occasion every year, according to Blazers coach Chauncey Billups.
According to Billups, “our guys light up for this thing.” There are a lot of families who are eager to meet the boys. but also have the ability to shop and get items they will need for the holidays. One of those things that always fills your cup is this.
The participants were always grinning as they browsed the store with their families, doing scavenger hunts and buying for goods.

According to Blazers forward Jerami Grant, it’s always nice to see the families and children enjoy the holidays. It’s satisfying just to be able to give back.
According to Jabari Walker, the players loved spending time with the fans and taking a mental vacation from basketball.
He said, “I think it’s huge.” It is made possible by these individuals. Those that admire us and our supporters. Being able to be around kids and demonstrate to them that we are just ordinary individuals with exceptional basketball skills is incredibly important to us.
Walker stated that the way supporters respond to the team can be unexpected.
Sometimes we spend so much time with our family that we fail to notice how much the outside world values us, Walker remarked. Seeing that and how much a photo or a signature can brighten someone’s day makes them happy.
Players should remember how much they would have loved such activities as kids, according to Jabari Walker.
Just being outside the facility and interacting with actual people who care about us and constantly watch us play is a breath of fresh air, Walker said.
Who is the team’s largest kid, then? Despite having a youthful squad, Deandre Ayton is undoubtedly competitive.
“DA is up there,” replied Grant, grinning. I believe that we all have a childlike side. Many real children are on our squad.
