Kip Memmott is leaving his position as head of the Oregon Saudi Division, which he has headed under four secretary of state.
He said that Memmott, who has served as audit director for eight years under both Democrats and Republicans, is the longest-serving director in the history of the modern state. In 2017, he succeeded former Republican Secretary of State Dennis Richardson in the audit division. After Richardson passed away in 2019, he continued to serve in that capacity during the pandemic and the scandal that prompted former Democratic Secretary of State Shemia Fagan to resign in 2023 and raised questions about the audit division.
