10. Falling trees caught on camera around Portland area as ice storm causes havoc

Hundreds of trees fell over the Portland metro area as a result of the winter storm that started on Saturday, January 13. Many homes lost power as a result of the storm because of the ice and fallen trees.

Some locals posted videos of trees falling in their areas on social media.

On Saturday, January 13, 2024, Matt Fremstad, a resident of southwest Portland, recorded this video of a tree falling in his area. The tree collapsed between Capitol Highway and Pomona Street near S.W. 51st Ave.

Dramatic dashcam footage of a collision on Highway 224 in Clackamas County was published by Oregon State Police on Tuesday.

After the driver took their eyes off the road, the car veered off the road and plummeted about 200 feet down an embankment, according to a Facebook post from OSP.

According to a press statement from Tigard police, a Portland man was taken into custody in October following a confrontation with police that caused damage to multiple vehicles while the suspect escaped in a stolen vehicle.

2. Riders dangling upside down on AtmosFear ride rescued at Oaks Park

In June, an extreme pendulum ride at Oaks Amusement Park malfunctioned, ruining the opening day celebrations by trapping over two dozen individuals in a dangerous position for over thirty minutes.
