This Oregon cheese is the world’s best cheddar, say the World Cheese Awards

Once again, an Oregon cheese is the greatest in the world.

At the World Cheese Awards in Portugal, Tillamook Creamery Maker’s Reserve 2014 Extra Sharp White Cheddar was named the Best Cheddar in the World.

The Tillamook website states that all of the creamery’s Maker’s Reserve cheeses are white cheddars that have been matured for a minimum of three years.

In recent years, a variety of Oregon cheeses have received recognition on a national and worldwide scale.

Rogue Creamery’s Rogue River Blue became the first American cheese to win the World Cheese Awards’ Best Cheese in the World title in 2019.

At the 2022 World Cheese Awards, the creamery Bluehorn blue cheese took home a Super Gold prize.

At the 2024 World Championship Cheese Contest earlier this year, Tillamook took home four of the top five positions in the sharp cheddar category, including first prize for its Sharp Cheddar.

For the second consecutive year, Salem’s Don Froylan Creamery has won the American Cheese Society accolades for making the nation’s best string cheese. In 2023 and 2024, Liliana’s String Cheese won the title of best in America.

Six cheeses from Oregon took top place in the American Cheese Competition in 2023.
