In a concerning development, a 17-year-old girl named Giana Castillo from Texas has been arrested for allegedly planning a school shooting.
According to reports from KXAN, Castillo made online threats targeting Graham Elementary School in Austin.
The FBI was alerted to her disturbing posts, which included statements about planning an active shooter event.
Investigators discovered Castillo had an unusual interest in previous school shootings and had made threats about killing her family before attacking the school.
Castillo was familiar with Graham Elementary, having attended the school from 2013 to 2017. Following the threat, the Austin Independent School District increased security at the campus.
Castillo has been charged with terroristic threats, a third-degree felony, and is currently held at Travis County Jail with a $100,000 bail.
