Tactical teams responding to possibly armed suspect in St. Johns

According to an officers Bureau press release, Portland officers are responding to a residence in St. Johns where a potentially armed subject is barricaded.

Residents in the area are being urged to remain indoors or away from their homes due to the third similar event this week.

Two tactical teams, one of which was a crisis negotiation team, were in the 8300 block of North Hudson Street at 11:30 a.m. to make the arrest. The area between North Smith Street and North Central Street and North Charleston Avenue and North John Avenue has been cordoned off by police.

According to the announcement, there have been no reported injuries. The ongoing incident has been reported to the St. Johns Community Center and nearby schools.

After a two-hour standoff, police apprehended Joshua J. Hick, 43, without incident after responding to a burglary call at a business in the Hosford-Abernethy district of Southeast Portland early Monday morning.Five persons were taken into custody by police at a Powellhurst-Gilbert residence on Tuesday. After locking themselves inside, two of the individuals remained inside for hours.
