A man identified as Rhanni Davis, 30, of Chicago, was charged Tuesday with four counts of first-degree murder following a mass shooting on a CTA Blue Line train in Forest Park, Illinois. The tragic incident occurred early Monday morning, leaving four passengers dead.
The victims were shot as the train approached the Forest Park terminal, with three dying at the scene and the fourth succumbing to injuries at a local hospital.
The victims include Simeon Bihesi, 28, Adrian Collins, 60, Margaret Miller, 64, and an unidentified 52-year-old man. Authorities reported that the attack seemed to be random, with no apparent connection between Davis and the victims, who were likely asleep during the assault.
Forest Park Police, aided by CTA security, used surveillance footage to locate Davis on a CTA Pink Line train later that day. The police recovered a 9mm Glock 43 linked to the crime through forensic evidence. The entire shooting was captured on CTA cameras, which will serve as crucial evidence in the case.
The incident has intensified scrutiny on safety within the CTA system. CTA President Dorval Carter emphasized the agency’s commitment to rider safety and acknowledged ongoing efforts to address complex issues like crime and homelessness on public transit.
