Before making their first appearance in the big game, players on both sides explained what they would tell themselves about playing in the Super Bowl, including how to unwind, stay hydrated, and have fun without going overboard.

Kansas City

We won the first one, but I felt like I came out too nervous and a little too excited. More than anything, just play the game you love the way you always have, and that will be plenty, said quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Cornerback Jaylen Watson: Just relax, don’t go too high too soon, don’t exhaust yourself, it’s a long week.

Linebacker Nick Bolton:I would have informed myself on the game’s ups and downs, its highs and lows. The game fluctuates, and it’s really emotional.

Justin Reid, security:Just make an effort to savor the experience a bit more each day of the week. I’ve enjoyed myself, but you want to do well in your first Super Bowl. Second, it’s simply preparing for the length of the game. There was a solid strategy for that, but the extended warmup was different. The game lasted five hours instead of three, and there was a 30-minute halftime.

George Karlaftis, end on the defensive:It’s only a game. You have played the same game 19 times during that season. The same game, the same time, etc.

Kicker Harrison Butker:The entire two weeks, but particularly the week before the Super Bowl, were filled with a lot of anxiety and nervousness. I recall arriving at the game feeling completely worn out from the weight of everything that seemed to be on my shoulders.

Center: Creed HumphreyIt’s difficult to get to this game, so just savor every minute and don’t take it for granted. Savor the moment while keeping the goal in mind.

Linebacker Leo Chenal: I’ve been with this bunch of players since my rookie season, and we’ve experienced reaching this point and making it deep in the playoffs. I would remind myself not to get caught up in things that aren’t related to football. You must enjoy the spectacle of our location, but try not to get sucked into it.

Philadelphia

Wide receiver AJ Brown: Pay attention to the game.

Cornerback Darius Slay: I would advise myself not to warm up too quickly. Unaware that I would have to return to the locker room and sit there for an additional forty-five minutes, I felt energized and prepared to leave. Due to the halftime show, which seems to last an hour, I had to pace myself and do a lot more stretching in order to rewarm up. I must make sure I’m loose and prepared to go since I don’t want to get tight.

Wide receiver DeVonta Smith: Just be yourself out there.

Safety advice from Reed Blankenship: Enjoy yourself, enjoy it, and avoid getting sucked into the spotlight. We get to play football in this game. It’s an honor to play on the largest football stage in the world.

Tight end Dallas Goedert: Dreams are coming true. Since winning is the most essential thing, do everything in your power to support the team.

Don’t ride the waves, says Landon Dickerson, center. There will be many positive moments as well as many negative ones. Remain composed and continue playing.

The offensive tackle Lane Johnson:Probably drink a bit more water. Out there, I was quite exhausted.
