NEW YORK — Shocking video footage has emerged of a brutal attack on a woman by two assailants wielding a baseball bat in Lower Manhattan. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, leaving the victim injured and prompting a city-wide search for the suspects.
In the video, captured on Monroe Street, the victim is seen casually walking, taking her phone out of her bag, when suddenly two masked men approach her from behind. One of the attackers punches her while the other strikes her repeatedly with a baseball bat, aiming for her bag but fleeing empty-handed.
The victim, identified as a 58-year-old woman who works at a nearby daycare, suffered visible bruises on her leg and head, as seen in the footage. Her family expressed shock and dismay over the incident, highlighting the community’s swift response in scaring off the attackers and calling for help.
“She feel stressful and her body hurt,” said a translator speaking on behalf of the victim’s sister, who detailed the impact on the family. “Now her sister feel uncomfortable. She hopes police can make society be peaceful.”

The family issued a statement through CBS New York, thanking those who intervened and calling for justice: “Our family is deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence, and we believe it is essential to share her story to raise awareness and seek justice.”
Police continue their search for the suspects involved in the attack. Meanwhile, the victim is recovering at home but remains fearful of returning to work.
