Health inspectors in the Hudson Valley region have identified several critical health code violations at seven local eateries, including well-known Italian restaurants, pizzerias, Asian cuisine spots, and a popular eatery. The inspections, conducted by the New York State Department of Health, aim to safeguard public health by assessing food safety practices, sanitary conditions, and potential contamination risks.

According to the latest report, critical violations were noted at these establishments during recent inspections. These violations, categorized as serious infractions with the potential to harm customers, include issues like improper food storage, presence of rodents or insects, unsanitary surfaces, and inadequate handwashing facilities. While most restaurants have since rectified the cited violations, the incidents underscore the ongoing vigilance required to maintain compliance with health regulations.

Among the establishments flagged, Brickmen Kitchen + Bar in Kingston received attention for four critical violations related to improper food sourcing, presence of pests, sanitation issues, and unsafe food storage practices. Similarly, Joe Cristiano’s Pizza in Hyde Park was cited for failing to maintain proper food temperatures, a crucial aspect of food safety protocol.

Other restaurants like Dragon City in New Windsor and Cosimo’s on Union in Newburgh were also found to have critical violations involving food handling and storage practices. Dragon City faced issues with canned food quality and chemical storage, while Cosimo’s on Union grappled with pest control measures and food contamination risks.

Inspectors also highlighted critical violations at Iron Chef Hibachi & Sushi in Central Valley, Trattoria Italiana in Greenwood Lake, and F & J Pizzeria in Washingtonville, each facing specific challenges related to food handling, temperature control, and sanitary conditions.
