The Hard Rock Casino in Rockford is getting ready for its big opening on Labor Day weekend. Brad Paisley and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts are among the performers set to rock the 2,000-seat Hard Rock Live! concert venue. There’s also another artist yet to be announced.
The permanent casino is being built where the Clock Tower Resort used to be, at 7801 E. State Street near the I-90 exit ramp. It’s going to be huge, spanning over 200,000 square feet with lots of restaurants and a big concert space.
But before everything can kick off, the casino needs approval from the Illinois Gaming Board. Meanwhile, the Rockford City Council is thinking about adding a 5% amusement tax on tickets sold at the casino.
