When police and firefighters arrived at a suspicious apartment fire in Northeast Salem early on Saturday morning, they discovered a man dead.
According to Salem police, emergency personnel came at approximately 2:45 a.m. on Saturday to put out a fire at an apartment complex located on the 1100 block of Chemeketa Street Northeast. According to officials, a 38-year-old man was discovered deceased in one of the rooms.
At this extremely early stage of the inquiry, neither the victim’s name nor any other details are being made public, Salem police spokesperson Angela Hedrick stated. Additionally, the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
According to a news release, detectives are looking into the cause of the fire and the suspicious aspect of the victim’s death.
