Rockford police have arrested Frank Howden, 68, following an incident where he allegedly threatened a man with a knife inside the victim’s apartment.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on July 7th around 11:40 p.m. at the 1300 block of Home Place, where officials responded to a report of aggravated battery. The victim informed police that he had met Howden, who identified himself as Dave, in the 700 block of 7th Street earlier that evening.
After inviting Howden back to his apartment and providing him with a glass of water, the victim reported that Howden suddenly brandished a knife and forcibly pushed him against the door, as detailed in court documents.
Despite the suspect’s attempt to assault the victim further, the victim managed to resist and raise an alarm, prompting Howden to flee the scene in a Chevrolet Equinox belonging to the victim.
During the altercation, the victim sustained a minor laceration to his pinky finger. Law enforcement later located the SUV at a Mobil station in the 500 block of East Jefferson Street, where Howden was apprehended.
The victim positively identified Howden as the assailant, leading to his arrest on charges of two counts of aggravated assault involving a deadly weapon.
