Readers respond: Forestry training not a boondoggle

Because Brasada Ranch markets itself as a luxury resort, the state forestry department’s planned training there has a negative image (Cash-strapped Oregon Department of Forestry to treat employees to training session at luxury resort, Jan. 7). However, the cost of the food and accommodation is actually a great deal in today’s world, assuming that each individual will eat seven meals in total (20 people at most). The average cost each meal is $12.40 per person, and the cost of the hotel is just $107 per person per night, which is hard to beat. particularly in light of the fact that a large number of the staff members reside in remote areas of the state. The Oregonian/OregonLive can undoubtedly select more significant battles.
