Readers respond: Ceiling litter at PDX

Like most people in the Portland region, I am in awe of the stunning new PDX and its incredible wood ceiling. The main airport terminal at PDX reopens on August 14 with trees and a 9-acre wood-beamed ceiling. But last night, while I waited for passengers to arrive, I couldn’t help but notice the litter—errant Mylar balloons—on the ceiling. How can we tame this litter? Shall we retrieve them with a drone? Should their possession be prohibited at the airport? Should we start a public relations campaign called “Keep Our Ceiling Beautiful”?
