The substantial fire dangers associated with the use and selling of fireworks in Oregon greatly worry me. I implore our state government to act to outlaw fireworks throughout the entire state.
A single spark from any source can have disastrous results, as the horrific wildfires in California have demonstrated.
Similar concerns exist in Oregon, especially during July when the dry, extremely combustible flora creates a tinderbox atmosphere. Our communities, wildlife, and natural resources are put in unnecessary danger when fireworks are permitted in these circumstances.
We can proactively prevent preventable fires and contribute to our state’s safety by outlawing fireworks. I respectfully request your leadership in contacting our lawmakers and supporting fire safety-focused policies in order to advocate for this important reform.
I value the efforts being made to safeguard Oregon from the growing risk of wildfires.
