On Monday, Providence Health & Services in Oregon went on the attack, accusing striking doctors of breaking federal labor law and announcing that it was prepared to resume negotiations with striking nurses at six of its facilities.
Beginning early last Friday, over 150 physicians and advanced practitioners, together with nearly 5,000 Providence nurses, went on indefinite leave. All eight Providence hospitals in the state as well as the chain of six women’s clinics run by the health system in the Portland metro area are impacted by the strike, which is currently in its fourth day and is the biggest in Oregon history.
