Potentially deadly king tides are coming to the Oregon coast this weekend

On the Oregon coast, the season’s last king tide is predicted for this Saturday and Monday.

King tides, which typically occur during new and full moons, are extremely high tides. They may result in flooding and large waves.

In a matter of seconds, these waves and strong tides can be fatal. When approaching the beach, visitors should constantly keep their eyes on the water.

Between Friday, December 13, and Sunday, December 15, the most recent Oregon king tide occurred. Authorities reported last week that they had located the body of a man from North Bend who had been missing since December 15 and was a king tide photographer.
