On Friday, a Portland woman entered a guilty plea to two charges of animal mistreatment after her dogs caused years of complaints from neighbors. She will be prohibited from owning dogs or cats for 15 years as part of her punishment.
Following unsuccessful pleas to Multnomah County Animal Services, officials searched Susan Long’s home on August 27 and found 13 dogs and two cats. Long, 51, was charged with 15 charges of second-degree animal cruelty, one for each of the animals. The search was sparked by a neighbor’s report to a deputy district attorney.
