Portland Winterhawks
The Portland Winterhawks were aiming to overtake the Victoria Royals and Prince George Cougars, who were ahead of them in the standings, last weekend. They must now start looking back following a weekend with two losses. Victoria and Prince George now lead by 5 and 9 points, respectively. However, they are three points ahead of the sixth-place Vancouver Giants and four ahead of the seventh-place Tri-City Americans. They must thus continue to win in order to maintain their lead, and the match against Vancouver is undoubtedly crucial.
Unfortunately for Portland, captain and top scorer Kyle Chyzowski will miss this crucial game for the first time this season. He received a one-game ban for a charging violation on Saturday, ending his streak of 111 games in a row. The Winterhawks lost the game and the lead in the third period after he was disqualified. Thus, they need to do some work.
