Portland Public Schools board reaffirms protections for immigrant students ahead of Trump presidency

A policy that states that district workers are not required to give information and support to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the enforcement of federal civil immigration laws was updated and strengthened by the Portland Public Schools Board on Tuesday, voting 7-0.

According to the resolution, school employees may refuse to let federal immigration officers remove employees or students without a court order, or they may refuse to let immigration officials enter a school other than the front desk.
