After a four-hour standoff, police say they have apprehended a guy who was allegedly threatening people with a machete in Portland’s Old Town district.
After receiving reports that a man was threatening individuals with a machete, Portland Police Bureau officers initially arrived at the location in the 600 block of Northwest Naito Parkway at approximately 4 p.m., according to the police. According to police, the man approached the officers and swung his machete at them before attempting to flee when they discovered him in an apartment building just north of the Steel Bridge.
