Portland police arrest man accused of attempting to meet decoy teen at local park

A 35-year-old guy in Northwest Portland was arrested by police after he allegedly thought he was meeting with a 14-year-old girl at a nearby park.

According to the authorities, Samuel Digiovanni used a social networking app to talk with the girl online for a few weeks before starting to text someone pretending to be the girl. Police claimed that Digiovanni planned to take her to his house after he attempted to arrange a rendezvous at a nearby park.

According to police, tactical squads assisted the Child Abuse Team and the Internet Crimes Against Children section in executing a search and arrest warrant in Northwest Portland.

Police spokesman Sgt. Kevin Allen confirmed Thursday that no young girl was involved. He refused to elaborate on the investigation methods employed, although he acknowledged that a decoy was employed in the case.

Allegations of luring a juvenile, online child corruption, attempted rape, attempted sodomy, and attempting to employ a child in the presentation of sexually graphic behavior led to Digiovanni’s arrest.

There was no other information available at the moment. Please refer to case number 24-802571 and email Detective Angela Hollan at [email protected] if you have any information about Digiovanni or this case.

Correction: The police neglected to mention that the teenager was a decoy and that no young girl was engaged in the case.
