Portland Mayor-elect Keith Wilson taps veteran campaigner, former City Hall insider as chief of staff

Keith Wilson, the newly elected mayor of Portland, has appointed a longtime City Hall insider and ballot measure campaign veteran as his chief of staff.

Wilson chose Aisling Coghlan to be his senior staffer. Coghlan was most recently a leader at the Democratic Party of Oregon. She spearheaded effective campaigns for ballot initiatives such as the Portland Children’s Levy and marriage equality.

She was Portland Commissioner Dan Saltzman’s chief of staff more than 20 years ago.

One of the state Democratic Party’s top leaders, Coghlan, disregarded several signs that a bitcoin CEO was the true source of a historic $500,000 payment and instead credited a Las Vegas financial processing company. In the end, the party paid a fine for the fraudulent campaign funding report.
