A 23-year-old man who admitted to first-degree manslaughter in the 2021 murder of Sergio Hunt in Portland was given a 10-year prison sentence.
Hunt, 17, was close friends with Keyshawn Pervish and his younger brother, according to court records and family testimonies. According to a detective’s affidavit, Hunt became irritated with Pervish for showing his girlfriend more attention as the three were hanging out in her apartment.
After they worked things out, the three pals departed in Hunt’s Audi sedan later that evening. The following morning, Hunt’s body was discovered run over on Northeast Milton Street in the Argay Terrace neighborhood, where he had been shot by his own revolver.
During a sentencing hearing this month, Hunt’s mother, Andrea Warren, stated, “My world was shattered and my heart was ripped right out of my chest.”
Although the specifics of what transpired inside the vehicle are unknown, prosecutors believe that Omarion Pervish, Pervish’s younger brother, 20, was the shooter.
Despite being charged with first-degree murder, Omarion Pervish has been receiving mental health care at Oregon State Hospital since the end of 2023. He entered a not guilty plea.

JUDGE ORDERS NEW TRIAL IN ABUSE SUIT AGAINST DHS
A judge has opened the door for a new civil trial in which the Oregon Department of Human Services will be charged with negligence for neglecting to remove a two-year-old boy from a home where his mother’s boyfriend later paralyzed him.
Scott Kocher, the plaintiff’s lawyer, found that the Multnomah County jury’s decision to not award damages during a November trial was illegal because three-fourths of the jurors must agree to a deadlock. That was less than the real total.
Kocher is suing the human services agency for over $90 million, claiming that caseworkers ought to have stepped in when the toddler was hospitalized for unintentional suboxone intoxication.
Rather, the youngster went back to his mother’s house, where her lover had left him permanently handicapped.
There is no new date for the trial.
