On Saturday, a head-on collision on Interstate 84 close to Rooster Rock State Park in the Columbia River Gorge claimed the life of a man.
According to a statement from Oregon State Police, John Erik Andersson, 59, of Portland, was heading east when his Subaru Forester struck a westbound Toyota Rav4 being driven by Nathan David Pederson, 24 of Mulino.
At the scene, Andersson was pronounced deceased. According to authorities, Pederson and his travel companion, Claudia Pederson, 25, suffered minor wounds.
Investigations are underway on the crash.
