Portland kicks off a short work week with cool temps, showers Monday

There will be lots of showers in the Portland/Vancouver area on Monday due to a chilly and unstable air mass that is still present over the Pacific Northwest.

According to the National Weather Service, a series of fairly consistent showers will continue through Monday morning but will lessen over the course of the night and Tuesday as offshore low pressure gradually moves south. Monday’s maximum temperature in Portland is predicted to be around 52 degrees.

Snow levels in the upper elevations are still between 3,500 and 4,000 feet. Monday’s new snow accumulations could total 3–7 inches further south along the Santiam and Willamette passes, but they will only reach 2–5 inches across Mount Hood’s passes.

Tuesday will begin with a few persistent showers, but by the afternoon, it will clear out and become partly sunny. The high ought to get close to 50.

Overnight, patchy fog may form as high pressure moves into the area. There may be patches of fog in Portland until around 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Showers are also a remote possibility in the morning. Wednesday is predicted to be a cloudy, mostly dry day with a high of roughly 49 degrees.

According to the current long-range prediction, Portland will remain dry and see partly sunny skies on Thanksgiving. A refreshing 48 degrees will be the high.

The majority of forecasts indicate that the dry weather will persist until Friday. However, 30% of forecast models suggest that rains may occur. High temperatures only rise to the upper 40s, remaining cold.
