Portland is one of the 20 best cities for Christmas

According to a recent ranking, Portland is a fantastic spot to enjoy Christmas.

Portland was ranked No. 14 out of the top 20 American cities for Christmas by WalletHub.

WalletHub examined the 100 most populous cities along five important dimensions to get the list: 1) Customs and enjoyment, 2) observance, 3) charity, 4) shopping, and 5) expenses.

Atlanta is the nation’s top Christmas city. Seattle, at number three, placed in the top five.

Portland is a fantastic city for holiday celebrations for the following reasons:

Holiday light displays

One of Portland’s oldest and most well-known holiday light displays is located on Peacock Lane in Southeast Portland. Until December 31, the lane will be lit up and accessible to holiday travelers. As long as supplies last, hot chocolate and cider are served every night.

There are other holiday displays in Portland, but Peacock Lane is the most well-known. Extensive displays can be found in neighborhoods around the metropolitan area.

Portland s Tree

During the holidays, Portland’s Tree in Pioneer Courthouse Square serves as a background for downtown shopping and attracts thousands of people for its yearly tree lighting.

Christmas Ships

This year, the Christmas Ships commemorate 70 years of sailing. Around the metro region, you may observe the parade of illuminated ships from a number of riverfront spots on the Columbia and Willamette.

Portland Winter Ice Rink

The outdoor ice rink in downtown Portland is back for its second year. It will remain open until January 5 at its current location next to the Morrison Bridge.

Zoolights

With thousands of lights, the Oregon Zoo’s light show is a holiday mainstay.

Zoolights is also available through January 5.
