Portland area weather forecast includes cold weather advisory for Sunday

For the Portland metro region, the National Weather Service issued a cold weather advisory through 10 a.m. on Sunday.

Temperatures in the affected areas, including the Central and Southern Willamette Valley, the Northern and Central Coast Range Valleys and Mountains of Oregon, the Foothills of the Northern and Central Oregon Cascades, the Willapa Hills and Adjacent River Valleys of Pacific and Wahkiakum Counties, the Lower Columbia River and Cowlitz River Valleys, the South Washington Coast, and the South Washington Cascade Foothills, could feel as low as 25 degrees in the Portland/Vancouver metro area, according to the advisory.

Warmer temperatures will be brought by east winds close to the Columbia River Gorge.

To avoid frostbite and/or hypothermia, anyone preparing to go outside should exercise common sense and dress appropriately, covering any exposed skin. Be careful when you’re outside. Put on gloves, a hat, and clothes that are acceptable. The advice stated.

Tonight’s high of 31 degrees is predicted to be below freezing, with widespread frost.

Before 9 a.m. on Sunday, there will be widespread frost in the Portland region as well, but the high will be close to 47 with sunny skies.
