A suspect in an armed robbery who was seen with a rifle is being sought by North Portland police. The Kenton neighborhood’s residents have been told to stay indoors.
A police statement issued shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday said that the neighborhood was attended to by the Police Bureau’s Special Emergency Reaction and Crisis Negotiation teams. At 6:30 a.m., 28 police units remain on the scene, with the 1900 block of North Terry Street serving as the focal point.
Police have not disclosed any information, and there are no known injuries.
According to police, a cordon has been set up between North Denver Avenue and Fenwick Avenue, as well as between North Farragut Street and Watts Street. The culprit is still being sought for by tactical officers utilizing drones and police dogs.
Police are currently investigating the area yard by yard as of 7 a.m., according to an email from police spokesperson Sgt. Kevin Allen.
