The woman who died in a Thanksgiving Day three-car collision has been officially identified by police, and the driver who allegedly struck her vehicle is expected to face prosecution.
According to a statement from the Portland Police Bureau, Andrea J. Doering, 46, of Portland, was in the backseat of a car with two other persons in Northeast Portland at around 6 p.m. when another vehicle crossed the center line and struck them close to the intersection of Northeast 13th Avenue and Lombard Street.
According to authorities, Doering passed away at the site, and the two other passengers she was riding with suffered severe injuries.
The driver of the vehicle that struck them has not been officially identified by the police, but they have stated that he is hospitalized with severe injuries and that alcohol had a role in the collision. They also stated that they anticipate charging him.
In a message to the school community, Susan Kosmala, the principal of Twality Middle School, stated that Doering was a janitor at the Tigard school and named the two individuals who were with her on Thursday as her mother, whom Kosmala would not name, and her father, Alan Little. According to Kosmala, Little works as a custodian at Tualatin’s Byrom Elementary School.
According to Kosmala, Little is still in the hospital but should live, and his wife’s condition is quite bad.
According to Kosmala, Andrea was a nice and caring member of the Twality society. We will really miss her; she was always witty and patient.
In order to pay for Andrea Doering’s funeral and her parents’ medical bills, the parent-school associations for Twality Middle School and Byrom Elementary School have set up a GoFundMeto.
Two individuals lost their lives in a collision on Wednesday, making Doering’s death the 64th traffic fatality in Portland this year.
