Parked Delta plane struck by Japan Airlines plane while taxiing at Sea-Tac

SEATTLE — According to airport officials, a Japanese Airlines plane was taxiing on the tarmac at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Wednesday morning when it apparently collided with the tail of a parked Delta aircraft.

According to the airport on X, authorities arrived at the scene at approximately 10:17 a.m. Authorities at the airport were trying to remove the passengers from the aircraft and return them to the terminal, but no one was hurt.

In an email, Delta spokesperson Samantha Moore Facteau stated that the wing tip of another plane allegedly struck the tail of its Boeing 737 while it was waiting to have ice removed from its exterior. According to her, deicing, as it is known, can happen before a plane taxis to the runway.

According to her, 142 people were on Delta flight 1921 to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and they were being moved to a different plane. Neither crew nor passengers were reported injured.

A request for comment via email was not immediately answered by Japan Airlines.

Authorities noted that because the incident happened on a taxi lane, it had little effect on airport operations.
