Oregon wines are collateral damage in on-again, off-again U.S.-Canada trade war

On Saturday, February 1, President Donald Trump announced a 25% duty on Canadian goods. In response, the premiers of a number of Canadian provinces said that they would no longer carry American wines and other alcoholic beverages in their state-owned liquor stores.

When Ontario Premier Doug Ford ordered the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO), which regulates all alcohol sales to restaurants, bars, and retail establishments in Canada’s most populous province, to cease supplying American alcohol products to its establishments, the wine industry in Oregon, which views Canada as its top export market, took notice.
