The left side may be the All-American team at Oregon State.
Baseball America announced its three teams on Tuesday, including the Beavers’ starting shortstop and third baseman as preseason All-Americans.
Junior shortstop Aiva Arquette made the second team, while sophomore third baseman Trent Caraway was named to the first team.
It’s the most recent round of preseason accolades for Arquette and Caraway, who have also been named among the top four players at respective positions by D1Baseball, placed among the top 21 MLB draft prospects by MLB.com, and recognized as All-Americans by Perfect Game.
Prior to missing more than two months due to a broken finger, Caraway appeared to be headed for an All-American season as a freshman last year. In the first two games of his OSU career, the 6-foot-2 slugger blasted a home run and a double.339 in 18 games with two home runs, five doubles, and ten RBIs.
However, the most of the harm occurred over the first 14 games prior to his injury. Caraway, who is now completely fit and a year later, is anticipated to play a significant role in the Beavers’ revamped lineup.
The same is true for Arquette, a 6-5 Washington transfer who is expected to be selected in the top 10 of the 2025 MLB draft. Coaches at OSU have even hinted that he might be selected first overall.
When Arquette hit.322, slugged.574, and delivered 12 home runs, 14 doubles, and 36 RBIs at Washington last season, he was selected to both the Pac-12 all-conference team and the all-defensive team.
The Beavers might start Arquette and Caraway at the top of the lineup, giving them a powerful table-setting combination for an offense that, according to insiders, may be just as talented and deep as the record-setting bunch from the previous season.
It is understandable why the Beavers start the season with a seventh-place ranking and hopes of winning a national championship.
In the first of 11 straight road games to begin 2025, Oregon State will take on Xavier in Surprise, Arizona, on February 14.
